Since my photos were taken Ive been thinking a lot about why I chose to participate in this project. At first I was excited. I liked the idea of trans/genderqueer folks being able to see each other through thoughtfully composed photographs and speaking for ourselves. I wanted to be seen as a beautiful individual full of life and love and not as a case study or only portrayed as the transsexual that no one could ever love.
Then I thought No way! I dont have a body like those guys in those pictures! Im not thin, Im not white, Im not muscular and I dont think Ill ever fit into the general queer/trans standard of beautyand thats when I decided to do it.
